Raw Honey continues where The End of Comedy left off, with Collins leading an ace crew of collaborators to coalesce the spirit of Drugdealer’s classically modern pop. Built on the foundation of a creative partnership among Collins, Sasha Winn (vocals) and Shags Chamberlain (bass, production), Drugdealer is more a collective than band.

Oct 07,  · The debut album of the (not so) straight-edge, LA-based slack rocker Michael Collins under the moniker Drugdealer is nothing short of fantastic. For The End of Comedy, he enlisted some of his analogously talented pals (i.e. Ariel Pink, Weyes Blood, Mild High Club, Alex Brettin) to produce a cohesive, funky, psychedelic record.

Psychedelic Pop, Pop, Power Pop: Drugdealer - The End Of Comedy ( Weird World) The band names that Michael Collins chooses for his dazed pop projects function as tests of faith. He’s operated under the monikers Run DMT and Salvia Plath, made surreal soul and funk as half of Silk Rhodes, and his latest record comes as Drugdealer.

‘The End of Comedy’ is more of a sketchbook of ideas and connecting themes – the majority of the tracks clock in under the 3-minute mark – save for the previously mentioned ‘Sea of Nothing’ which reaches an almost unfathomable 5 minutes plus – that hang together on a wistful acoustic trill and a withdrawn, slurred vocal.
